The experience of loss and grief for a child or adolescent can be challenging because they may not know how to respond. Parents should serve as role models in this process, showing their children that it is acceptable to cry and mourn, and provide security through family time and open communication. Times of loss are challenging, and children need their parents to show them how to work through their feelings - by showing their children healthy ways to mourn, parents provide their children with positive coping skills that will continue to help them for their entire lives.
And for those times when the grieving is too intense for a parent to handle alone, we at Courage to Connect are here to help. Please feel free to visit our website for more information on the therapeutic services we offer.
