Shooting At Glenview Mariano's: Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A 31-year-old resident of Chicago is accused of firing a gun at a coworker Friday at a Mariano's in Glenview.

GLENVIEW, IL — Police have made an arrest following a Friday night incident in which they say an employee shot a gun at a coworker at a Mariano's grocery store in the suburbs. Anthony Reschke, 31, of the 5800 block of N. Virginia Avenue, Chicago, is accused of first-degree attempted murder, and was arrested at 1:20 p.m. Sunday.

Glenview police said additional charges are pending. Reschke is being held by the Glenview Police Department until a transfer of custody is made to the Cook County Sheriff's Office. Glenview detectives investigated the shooting with assistance from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, according to a news release.

At the time of the Friday night incident, which police said occurred at around 10:20 p.m., the store at 25 Waukegan Road was closed to the public. It is believed no customers were in the store at the time and no one was injured.

A preliminary investigation revealed the employees got into an argument before Reschke displayed the firearm. After firing the gun, he left Mariano's in a car. The round did not hit the other employee.

Reschke was later found at his home and was taken into custody without incident. The gun was recovered at the home.
