St. John Brebeuf Musica Lumina concerts continue Sunday, November 20

The Musica Lumina 2016-17 concert series continues Sunday, Nov. 20, at 3 p.m. with Holiday Music for Choir, Bells, and Organ.

The Musica Lumina 2016-17 concert series continues Sunday, Nov. 20, at 3 p.m. with the North Shore Choral Society and the Chicago Bronze performance of Holiday Music for Choir, Bells, and Organ. The second in the 2016-17 concert series will be held at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N Harlem Ave, Niles. Admission is $25 per person with a reduced ticket price of $22 for seniors and $15 for students. For tickets call 773-956-8400 or visit www.northshorechoral.org.

Sponsored in part by Relevant Radio, Bugle Newspapers, and the Niles Metropolitan Chorus the nine concert 2016-17 series organized by SJB Music Director Marek Rachelski will include two commemorative concerts given in honor of the legacy of the Rev. Stanley Rudcki, the former chair of the Niles College Department of Fine Arts, who founded the Niles Concert Choir and Niles Symphony Orchestra in the 1960s. They are Handel's Messiah on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. and Bach's St. John Passion on Sunday, April 2, at 3 p.m. Both commemorative concerts will feature the Musica Lumina Orchestra and the Niles Metropolitan Chorus.

Five additional concerts will feature The Chicago Gargoyle Brass performing West Side Story and More on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 3 p.m.; Musica Lumina performing Spanish Melodies on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 3 p.m; North Shore Choral Society performing Psalms, New and Old including Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Tarik O’Regan’s Dorchester Canticles on Sunday, March 5, at 3 p.m.; Chicago Bassoon Quartet performing A View from Above on Sunday, April 30, at 3 p.m.; and Musica Lumina performing Music from the Americas on Sunday, May 14, at 3 p.m.
