Thanksgiving 2017: What's Open, Closed In Glenview
Find out mall and grocery store opening hours, trash pickup schedule and what businesses will be closed for Thursday's holiday.

GLENVIEW, IL — This Thanksgiving and Black Friday promise to be some of the busiest travel days this year. Whether you're in town for a visit or a longtime resident, it's helpful to know which places are extending hours like never before, and which are taking a step back to enjoy "turkey day" apart from the retail frenzy. Here's a list of public services, institutions, retailers and restaurant hours for Thanksgiving 2017.
Post Office: Post offices are closed on Thanksgiving but will resume operations on Friday.
Glenview Village Hall: Village Hall will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24.

Glenview Public Library: Closed 5 p.m. Wednesday, all day on Thanksgiving.
Garbage Collection: Thanksgiving collections will be delayed by one day following the holiday, and Friday collections will be delayed to Saturday.

Banks: Most major banks are closed on Thanksgiving Day, and most will open on Friday. Call your branch to verify.
Schools: Glenview elementary schools and Glenbrook high schools will be closed Nov. 22 -24.
Facilities: The Glenview Park Center will be open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Glenview Ice Center will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. The Glenview Tennis Club will be closed all day.
Retailers: A couple of blogs dedicated to Black Friday deals say 72 retailers will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Outlets that say they've tentatively taken the holiday off include: Abt Electronics, Ace Hardware, Barnes & Noble, Costco, Home Depot, Neiman Marcus, Marshalls, Nordstrom and T.J. Maxx. National retailers that are expected to open on Thanksgiving include Best Buy, Kohl's, Macy's, Sears, Walgreens and Walmart. Target says it will close at midnight on Thanksgiving, then reopen at 6 a.m. Black Friday morning.
Lincolnwood Town Center will be open from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. and again from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
Northbrook Court's holiday hours run from 6 p.m. to midnight on Thanksgiving and from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Black Friday.
Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center's Thanksgiving hours also run 6 p.m. to midnight. On Black Friday it is scheduled to open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

- Trader Joe's: Closed
- Whole Foods: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Interfaith Thanksgiving Service: Featuring a keynote address from Fr. Maina Waithaka, the 2017 Glenview Interfaith Thanksgiving Service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 21 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 3535 Thornwood Ave. There will be a monetary offertory taken and it will be shared evenly between Wesley Child Care, Gelnview Youth Services and Northfield Township Food Pantry. An offering of non-perishable food, pet food and household supplies will be collected and donated to the Northfield Township Pantry. The annual event is sponsored by the Glenview Clergy Association.
Tree and Wreath Sales: Beginning Nov. 24 at Historic Wagner Farm, dress up your home and yard for the season with a beautiful selection of cut holiday trees and wreaths. All sales help to support the animals on the farm. Free wagon rides on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., but rides are subject to change so call ahead for availability at 847-724-5670.
