Thieves Place New Jewelry On Resident Before Stealing Her Gold Chain: Glenview Police Blotter

A female reportedly grabbed the woman's arm and placed a bracelet on it, while a man put a necklace on the victim, before the theft.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Omar Cajigas, 24, of the 4900 block of W. Altgeld Street, Chicago, who police said had a warrant, is accused of operating a motor vehicle when registration was suspended for noninsurance, expiration of registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 12:23 a.m. Feb. 28, following a traffic stop in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue. He was released following his arrest.

Ryan Roeder, 43, of the 1000 block of Heatherfield Lane, Glenview, is accused of obscenity, and was arrested at 5:48 a.m. Feb. 25, in the 800 block of Hunter Road following an investigation. He was released and assigned a court date of March 26.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

  • Nicole Robles, 23, of the 3000 block of N. Kostner Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, illegal transportation of alcohol, no insurance, and was arrested at 6:53 p.m. Feb. 25, in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue. She was released and assigned a court date of April 13.
  • Kendra Randazzo, 57, of the 1300 block of Greenwillow Lane, Glenview, is accused of DUI, having a suspended driver's license, no insurance, speeding 15 to 20 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 11:52 p.m. Feb. 25, following a traffic stop in the 500 block of Waukegan Road. She was released and assigned a court date of Waukegan Road. She was released and assigned a court date of April 17.
  • Luis Delgado, 22, of the 5600 block of Rogers Avenue, Chicago, is accused of DUI, registration suspended for non-insurance, no insurance, expired registration, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 11:36 p.m. Feb. 27, in the 900 block of Waukegan Road. He was released and assigned a court date of April 17.

INCIDENTS

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

An employee of a business in the 1100 block of Church Street reported on Feb. 24 that during the overnight hours, two people were seen on video arriving on a motorcycle and taking an orange rough terrain vehicle from their parking lot.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

The owner of a business in the 1900 block of Waukegan Road reported at 11:28 a.m. Feb. 24, that at some time overnight, a work van parked at the business had its window shattered and numerous tools were stolen.

RETAIL THEFT

The loss prevention staff at a store in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 6:35 p.m. Feb. 24, someone had taken merchandise without paying for the items. They were issued a village ordinance citation for retail theft and given a trespass warning not to return.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

  • A Northbrook resident reported at 8:43 p.m. Feb. 25, their vehicle, which they had parked at 7:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Willow Road, had been burglarized. When they had returned to the vehicle, they found the front passenger window was shattered and their backpack was missing from inside.
  • A Des Plaines resident reported at 10:44 p.m. March 2, someone had entered their vehicle while it was parked in the 1600 block of Pfingsten Road between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m, and took a backpack.

THEFT

  • A resident of the 400 block of Beech Drive reported at 9:35 a.m. Feb. 26, receiving a pop-up on their computer with a phone number to call due to a security breach. The caller advised them that they would need to go to the bank to wire money, which they complied and wired $34,000. The bankers tried to advise them of the possible scam, but the caller told the resident to lie to them.
  • A resident reported at 3:32 p.m. March 1, being in the parking lot of a business in the 3600 block of West Lake Avenue when they were approached by two people in a black vehicle. The female reportedly grabbed their arm and put a bracelet on the resident. The male put a necklace on the resident but then removed the gold chain she had been wearing without her knowing. The vehicle then fled the scene. Total loss is $10,000.
  • Employees of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 7:45 p.m. March 2, an unknown male had walked out of the store past the last point of purchase with a shopping cart full of energy drinks without paying. Total loss is $80.
  • A Wheeling resident reported at 6:29 p.m. March 2, that they had been approached by females in a black vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 600 block of Milwaukee Ave. The females
    handed them a ring and necklaces, but after the vehicle left, they noticed their watch missing.
    Total loss is $15,000.

TRESPASS WARNING

Employees of a business in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road reported at 1:10 p.m. Feb. 26, someone had been asking for donations outside the store. They were given a trespass warning not
to return to the property and left without incident.

FORGERY

A resident in the 800 block of Long Road reported at 9 a.m. Feb. 27, someone had forged a check that they had previously placed in the mail and sent out for payment. The check payment was changed from $42.69 to $6,023.14.

IDENTITY THEFT

A resident of the 1800 block of Admiral Court reported at 7:53 p.m. March 2, their cellphone had been stolen in Chicago in January, but they have since found authorized charges on their
bank accounts for gambling. They are working on a reimbursement from the bank.
