Woman, 81, Killed By Car While Walking Near Glenview

GLENVIEW, IL — An 81-year-old woman died as a result of injuries sustained when she was struck by a motor vehicle Sunday near Glenview. Soon Hee Park, 81, of the 3900 block of Triumvera Drive, Glenview, was walking near the Forest Preserve District of Cook County at East Central and River roads when she was hit. She was pronounced dead at the scene at around 11:05 a.m. from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

During a subsequent investigation, it was learned the driver of a 2016 Honda Utility was traveling eastbound on Central Road when they struck Park in a crosswalk, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office. The driver did not present any indication of intoxication and is currently in custody. The accident is still under investigation, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
