108 Citations, Several Arrests Made in Holiday Traffic Campaign in Lake Co.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office headed the effort to keep drunken drivers off the roads and targeted seatbelt violators.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has released results from its holiday enforcement effort.

The sheriff’s office increased traffic safety patrols from Nov. 14 through Nov. 26 and was on the lookout for drunken drivers and those not wearing their seatbelts, according to a news release.

During the traffic campaign, authorities made the following arrests and issued the following citations:

  • Four were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol
  • Four were arrested for drug-related violations,
  • Seven were arrested for driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license
  • 27 people received seatbelt citations
  • 22 received speeding citations
  • 11 received uninsured motorist citations.

A total of 108 traffic citations were issued during the traffic safety campaign, according to a news release.

“Our sheriff’s deputies are out year-round to keep the motoring public safe. Drunk driving kills, and I urge anyone that’s been drinking to utilize a designated driver or alternate means of transportation,” Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran said.

This law enforcement mobilization was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns. For more information, visit www.idot.illinois.gov
