GRAYSLAKE, IL — Grayslake officials have released a new informational video detailing the massive data center campus approved for the village and addressing residents' questions about the controversial development.
The presentation provides an overview of the history of the Cornerstone property, the approval process and regulatory oversight, along with environmental, infrastructure and financial aspects of the project.
Village officials said the presentation was originally prepared for an extended public comment session that could not be held because of circumstances outside the village's control. Officials said they released the video to give residents another way to learn about the approved project.
The presentation reviews the public process surrounding the Cornerstone property and data center campus, including 33 public meetings where the property has been discussed, according to the village.
It also outlines the village's regulatory role as the project moves through the permitting process. Village officials said technical reviews are continuing on issues including site design, water use, sound, vibration, traffic and lighting.
The video also addresses frequently asked questions and concerns involving water consumption, noise, electrical infrastructure, traffic, environmental protections and wetlands.
Village officials estimate the development will bring about $18 billion in private investment to Grayslake. The village projects the development will generate about $1.4 billion in non-homeowner-funded financial resources for local taxing districts during its first 20 years.
Additional information, including the video and a frequently asked questions document, is available here.
