Finalists will be announced in early September and will win an all expense paid trip to Washington D.C. in October to compete in the Broadcom Masters Finals. During the finals, students will display their original science fair project and engage in team science activities to compete for the $25,000 grand prize and other product prizes and science-related excursions.
Over 105 students participated in the Science Fair in January. Forty-two Woodland students participated in the Regional Competition.
"Students learn science most effectively through inquiry-based learning that is meaningful and connected to the students' everyday life," said Science Fair Coordinator, Sharon Anday. "According to Sir Cyril Herman Hinshelwood, 'Science is an imaginative adventure of the mind seeking truth in a world of mystery'. I would like to thank all the students for their dedication in taking this 'imaginative adventure' and creating such remarkable projects. Their teachers and their families should be commended for their support through this process. I am very proud of our middle school and our accomplishments at the Regional Competition."
