Authorities ID Woman Killed in Lake County Crash

WADSWORTH, IL - Authorities have identified the 24-year-old driver killed in a crash in Wadsworth early Sunday as Miriam Gomez of Waukegan.

The crash happened when a 2004 Nissan Altima driven by Gomez was traveling north on Green Bay Road when it left the roadway, went into the ditch and struck a tree on the west side of Green Bay Road, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Gomez, of the 600 block of 8th Street in Waukegan, became trapped in the vehicle. Emergency personnel had to extricate her.

Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
