Authorities Search for Man Who Robbed Gas Station at Gunpoint
The armed robber occurred at a gas station near Lake Villa early Sunday.

Authorities in Lake County are searching for a man who pulled a handgun on a gas station clerk and got away with cash.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was called to a BP gas station at 37044 North Route 45 in unincorporated Lake Villa at about 12:15 a.m. on Sunday for the report of the armed robbery, according to a news release.
The suspect, who is described as a dark-skinned man who is approximately 5-feet 4-inches tall with a thin build, entered the gas station at about 12:11 a.m. He pointed a black handgun at the clerk, demanded money from the cash register and then fled with an undisclosed amount of money, according to the news release.

The robber was wearing a North Face jacket, black hat, black ski mask, blue jeans and black gloves.
A canine team from Lake Villa Police Department responded and tracked the scent of the man to a nearby parking lot, where the scent ended.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives responded and continue to investigate the armed robbery.
