The Freeze, 1229 W. Park Avenue in Grayslake, was picked as the best ice cream spot in the area, pulling in the the majority of votes from readers in our unofficial ice cream poll. Several readers lauded The Freeze for its excellent quality, variety and customer service.

Among readers' favorite menu items are: the Puppy Chow Freeze, Butterfinger Freeze and Pecan Delight. Soft-served ice cream, including the twist, also got rave reviews.
