• Grass clippings self-ignite, sparking fire that heavily engulfed detached garage near Round Lake (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Grayslake firefighters helped battle a major garage fire near Round Lake after a pile of grass clippings reportedly self-ignited and spread to the structure. Crews from multiple Lake and McHenry County departments ran long hose lines, closed Fairfield Road, and knocked down the blaze in about 30 minutes. No injuries or damage to nearby buildings were reported, though power was briefly out in the area.
