Charges Filed After Police Break Up 'Unruly' Party In Round Lake

Two Waukegan men face charges following the party, which included around 100 people.

ROUND LAKE, IL — Two men were arrested — one for throwing a beer bottle at a deputy and another who is accused of threatening to murder an officer's family — after police broke up a massive party in Round Lake early Sunday.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office and Round Lake Police Department responded to the "large, unruly party" in the 24500 block of West Stub Avenue at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday where they found around 100 people at the home, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

When police arrived, the hosts of the party had requested everyone leave the home but guests ended up flooding the nearby neighborhood, drinking alcohol in the road, being unruly in neighbor's yards and blocking traffic with their cars, according to a news release.

More officers were called to the scene to help handle the uncooperative crowd. While some people began to leave, others continued to cause issues.

Police say a 21-year-old Waukegan man was taken int0 custody after he threw a bottle of beer at a sheriff's office deputy. Ramon Basurto, of the 100 block of North McAree Road in Waukegan, was arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail.

He has since been charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer.

Jarion Allen, 21, of the 1200 block of Elmwood Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested after he tried to punch a sergeant from the Round Lake Police Department and then fled on foot. He was taken into custody and while he was being transported to the jail, he threatened to go to a deputy's home and murder him and his family, according to the news release.

Allen has been charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer and threatening a public officials.

Both Allen and Basurto are being held at the Lake County Jail as they await their initial court appearance.
