Coroner IDs Lake County Man, 19, Killed In Grayslake Crash

The collision happened at about 2:15 p.m. Monday at Washington Street and Atkinson Road.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 19-year-old Lake Villa man killed in a two-vehicle collision Monday.

The collision happened at about 2:15 p.m. at Washington Street and Atkinson Road when a black Volkswagen, driven by the teen, was headed east on Washington Street and hit a blue Toyota sports utility vehicle headed west on Washington, which was driven by an 86-year-old woman, according to a news release from the Grayslake Police Department.

The SUV was attempting to turn south onto Atkinson Road at the time of the crash, police said. Following the collision, the Volkswagen left the road and hit a traffic light pole on the southeast side of the intersection.

Both drivers were transported to area hospitals.

The man was pronounced deceased at Condell Medical Center. The elderly woman sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

On Tuesday, the Lake County Coroner's Office identified the man killed in the crash as Jonathan Williams, 19, of Lake Villa.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show Williams died from blunt force injuries of the head as a result of the crash.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
