LAKE COUNTY, IL — A coyote is recovering at a Lake County animal rescue center after being hit by a car and becoming stuck in the vehicle's grille.
The collision happened at 5 a.m. Sunday when the driver of the car did not stop after striking the animal with her vehicle, according to a post on the Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Facebook page. The coyote, which became stuck in the grille of the vehicle, was dragged back to the woman's home.
The woman then went into her home, not noticing the coyote. Neighbors did spot the live coyote stuck in the car grille a couple hours later, and reported the situation to authorities who responded at about 7:30 a.m. and were able to extricate the animal, according to the Flint Creek Facebook post.
