Crash Closes Grayslake Railroad Crossing

The crossing at Route 83 and Route 120 has been closed since Sunday.

An accident Sunday caused damage to an overhead railroad crossing structure at Route 120 and Route 83 in Grayslake, according to a post on the Grayslake Fire Protection District Facebook page. As of 4:40 p.m. on Monday, Canadian National Railroad representatives advised village officials that utilities running through the area of their gate would require them to use specialty equipment to continue with repairs.

“Best estimate now is another 24-48 hours before the crossing can open,” fire officials wrote in the Monday evening update.
