Driver Critically Injured in Crash With Semi; Deputy Injured in Separate Crash Nearby
Two crashes on Winchester Road in Lake County sent two to the hospital Monday morning.

A serious crash that closed Winchester Road in Lake County Monday morning may have lead to a second crash that injured a Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy, police said Tuesday.
The first crash occurred at the intersection of Route 83 and Winchester around 9 a.m. and involved a car and semi, according to the Daily Herald. The car’s driver, a woman, was taken to Condell Medical Center in critical condition, the Daily Herald reports.
Following the crash, police closed down the intersection and were directing traffic when a deputy in an unmarked SUV was broadsided by a pick-up truck traveling north on Midlothian at about 10:40 a.m., sheriff’s office spokesman Christopher Covelli said. The crash occurred while the deputy was traveling west on Winchester and was making a left to go south on Midlothian.
