Driver in Fatal Libertyville Crash Charged With Reckless Homicide

A 23-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the crash that killed Steven Daskauskas last March in Libertyville.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL - A 23-year-old woman has been charged with reckless homicide in connection with a crash that occurred last March in Libertyville.

Amanda C. Auld, of 315 Balmoral Drive in Libertyville, is being held at the Lake County Jail on a $500,000 bond following her arrest last week. She is charged with two counts aggravated DUI/accident/death and one count of reckless homicide, according to online jail records.

Libertyville police said Auld was driving the Volkswagen Beetle east on Peterson Road when the vehicle collided with a semi-tractor trailer at Harris Road in Libertyville on March 7 at 2:45 a.m. The vehicle was attempting to turn left onto Harris Road at the time of the crash. The vehicle hit the rear of the semi, the Daily Herald reports.

Steven Daskauskas, a passenger in the Volkswagen Beetle, died in the collision.

Police said there was a delay in issuing the charges against Auld because as they waited on witness statements, the Daily Herald reports.
