Woman, 70, Crossing Roadway at Night Hit by SUV, Killed

The 70-year-old Ingleside woman was crossing Rollins Road Saturday night when she was hit by the car.

INGLESIDE, IL - A 70-year-old woman was killed over the weekend in a crash near Ingleside.

Bonnie C. Tarkowski, 70, of Ingleside, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred in the area of Rollins Road and Blackhawk Avenue in unincorporated Ingleside at about 8:53 p.m. on Oct. 8, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Tarkowski was walking east on the north shoulder of Rollins Road when she began to cross the roadway, walking toward the south shoulder of the road, and was struck by a 2006 GMC Yukon, according to the news release.

The driver of the Yukon, a 43-year-old Fox Lake woman, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
