Elderly Woman Killed in Crash Near Libertyville

Three others, including a 22-month-old passenger, were also injured in the two-vehicle crash.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL - An elderly woman was killed Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash near Libertyville.

The crash happened at about 5:05 p.m. on Route 137 and the off-ramp from southbound Route 45 in unincorporated Libertyville.

A preliminary investigation shows a 2014 Cadillac CTS was traveling west on Route 137, approaching the Route 45 off ramp, when a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country mini-van made a left turn from the off ramp for southbound Route 45 onto eastbound Route 137, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release. The Chrysler was struck by the westbound Cadillac.

The driver of the Chrysler, an 85 year-old Deerfield woman, was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. The elderly woman was later pronounced dead.

A passenger in the Chrysler, a 63 year-old Deerfield man, was taken to Condell Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Cadillac, a 22 year-old Round Lake Beach man, was transported to the Northwestern-Grayslake emergency room with non-life threatening injuries. A 22-month-old passenger in the Cadillac was also taken to Northwestern-Grayslake emergency room with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
