Adults interested in tutoring English-speaking adults in basic reading, math or writing may attend this orientation session to find out about volunteering in theAdult Learning Connection.Β This literacy programΒ isΒ a partnership between CLC, Literacy Volunteers of Lake County and the Waukegan Public Library.
Tutoring usually involves a three hour per week commitmentΒ that occursΒ in public places in Waukegan, Zion and North Chicago. One-on-one tutoring takes place at libraries and classroom tutoring takes place at CLC.
Volunteers must have a sincere desire to help other adults along with a high school diploma or equivalent andΒ strong basic skills. Volunteers must complete training and attend workshops during the year.

After this orientation session, there will be four Adult Basic Education Tutor Training sessions offered on Wednesday, February 2 from 6:45pm to 9:00pm; Wednesday, February 9 from 6:45pm to 9:00pm; Saturday, February 26 from 9:30am to 3:30pm at Waukegan Public Library and Wednesday, March 2 from 6:45pm to 9:00pm.
