Growing with Nature Organic Plant Sale

Where else can you purchase organic plants that are also classroom education tools?  Come to the Growing with Nature Organic Plant Sale on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Prairie Crossing Charter School Gymnasium, 1581 Jones Point Road in Grayslake.  Grow your own groceries with the wide variety of edible flower, vegetable and herb plants available during this fun and
educational family event. Come early for the best plant selections.

New to gardening?  Plant experts will answer gardening questions, Prairie Crossing Charter School students will conduct educational presentations on water conservation and composting, and Urban Worm Girl will provide worm composting demonstrations.  Get the plants and information that you need to create an eco-friendly garden that will provide your family with healthy, fresh produce.  

Want to support local Grayslake farmers?  Several Prairie Crossing farmers will offer information about their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs including the Prairie Crossing Learning Farm Prairie Farm Corps, Midnight Sun Farm, Radical Root Farm, and Wild Goose Farm.   Gretta’s Goats, another farm business located at the Prairie Crossing Farm, will offer organic hand-milked goat milk soap and bath salts. 

Need a unique gift or other garden-related items?  Other vendors participating in the Plant Sale include Claymates Pottery/Neil Estrick Gallery, EcoOptions Ltd., Prairie Crossing Foraged Harvest Jams, Norwex, Old Havana Foods, and Wildtree.

The Growing with Nature Organic Plant Sale is a joint fundraiser of the Prairie Crossing Learning Farm and the Prairie Crossing Charter School Parent Staff
Organization (PSO).  Most of the plants are seeded and transplanted by Prairie Crossing Charter School students and teachers as part of their farm-based education
curriculum at the Learning Farm.  Parent and other volunteers assist in the seeding, transplanting, and watering of organic plants that are grown in the Learning
Farm greenhouse.   

The mission of the Prairie Crossing Learning Farm is to
educate and inspire people to value healthy food, land and community through experiences on our farm. The Prairie Crossing Learning Farm is a program of the Liberty Prairie Foundation, a 503(c)(3) non-profit organization.  The Prairie Crossing Charter School is a public charter school where students learn through integrated, environmental
curriculum.  Both educational organizations are located within the Prairie Crossing conservation community in
Grayslake.
