Woodland Intermediate School to present "The Jungle Book" November 10 and 12

Gurnee--Woodland Community Consolidated School District 50's Intermediate School is proud to present its fall production of "The Jungle Book" produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Englewood Colorado. The play will be held at 7 p.m., November 10 and 12 at the school's Multipurpose Room, 1115 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee.

A cast of 30 4th and 5th grade Woodland Intermediate students, student crew, and former Intermediate student Jamie Kreppein as the Student Director are part of this year's production.

Come hear the incredible tale of Mowgli, played by Max Sobota, a young boy raised by wolves. With the help of his friends — the bear Baloo played by Deja Lewis, the panther Bagheera played by Lizie Twardock, and the python Kaa played by Kira Moses — Mowgli learns the ways of the jungle. Some of the jungle boy's adventures are gripping, like the time he encounters the hooded cobra who guards the treasure vault in the Deserted City.  Others, like the coconut-tossing monkeys who take him prisoner, are hysterical. But the jungle is also dangerous, for it is the home of Shere Khan, the man-eating tiger who has vowed to destroy Mowgli. With his fawning jackal follower, Shere Khan plots to take control of the jungle. Mowgli must use all his strength and courage to stop Shere Khan before it is too late. Everyone will cheer when Mowgli declares, "I am Mowgli, Keeper of the Law and Guardian of the Jungle!"

The play is directed by April Cooksey and Pam Valkenaar, assisted by Jordyn McCormack with the support of Mike Witkowski Intermediate Principal, Ana Fuhrer Associate Principal, Deb Pellettiere and Tim Tyrell Assistant Principals, and Harriet Jones Special Education Supervisor.

Ticket Price: $3.
