Fees, Interest Waived On Lake Co. Court Cases
During Amnesty Week, which will run from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2, past due fines will be waived on criminal, traffic matters.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — Residents with past due fines for criminal and traffic matters can have their collection fees and accrued interest waived between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2. The Lake County Circuit Clerk's Office has worked with the Lake County State's Attorney's Office to set up this year's Lake County Amnesty Week, according to a news release from the circuit clerk's office.
In 2019, more than $290,000 in interest and collection fees was waived during the county's amnesty week and 380 cases were closed out after being paid in full.
Amid continued concerns over the spread of COVID-19, the clerk's office is accepting in-person payments at any of its branch locations but is encouraging residents to pay online, by phone or by mail instead. Visitors to the circuit clerk's office will be required to wear proper face coverings and practice social distancing while in any of our facilities, according to the news release.
