Woman Injured, Family Displaced After Ceiling Collapse In Lake Co. Home
The woman was hospitalized after drywall and insulation fell on her while she was sitting in her living room, fire officials said.
ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL — A woman was injured and a family was temporarily displaced after a ceiling partially collapsed inside a Round Lake Beach home, according to Lake and McHenry County Scanner.
Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Charley Mitchell said firefighters responded around 5:40 p.m. to the 1300 block of North Pleasant Drive, where part of the living room ceiling had caved in, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner. The woman, who was sitting in the living room when drywall and insulation fell, reported head, neck and back pain and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for evaluation.
A family of three or four people was temporarily displaced, but officials determined the roughly 60-year-old home was not at risk of collapsing. The cause of the collapse remains unknown, and the village's building department was notified to evaluate the structure, according to the article.
