Fugitive Arrested For Sex Abuse of Girl: Police

Steven M. Klubertanz of Ingleside is accused of sexually abusing a female relative over a seven-month period in 2017.

INGLESIDE, IL -- A 39-year-old Ingleside man accused of sexually abusing a female relative has been arrested. The Lake County Sheriff's Office warrants team and the U.S. Marshals Service-Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force took Steven M. Klubertanz, of the 35500 block of North Sunnyside Avenue in Ingleside, into custody on Wednesday. Authorities issued a $350,000 arrest warrant for Klubertanz on Jan. 4 in connection with the sex abuse case, which authorities said was first reported last August.

Klubertanz is accused of sexually abusing the girl at an Ingleside home between June and December of 2017, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

After issuing the arrest warrant, police learned Klubertanz was likely hiding with family members in Lyndon Station, Wis., which is located northwest of the Wisconsin Dells, authorities said Thursday. On Wednesday, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force conducted surveillance at the family member's house in the N1000 block of Lyndon Road in Lyndon Station, Wis.

Police ended up locating Klubertanz at the home and took him into custody without incident, according to the news release. He was transported to the jail in Juneau County, Wis., where he will remain until his extradition hearing.
