Grayslake Man Killed in Crash Near Northfield

NORTHBROOK, IL — A Grayslake man was killed in a one-car crash near Northfield Sunday after his car hit a concrete barrier on the Edens near Tower Road, police said.

Miahailo Bjelopetrovich, 63, of the 33000 block of North Lake Shore Drive in Grayslake was identified as the driver.

He was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and was flung from his southbound Buick when he went off the road and hit a concrete beam, sending his car across all lanes of traffic into another concrete barrier.

The southbound ramp to Tower from I-94 was closed, and Illinois State Police and Northbrook Fire Department investigated the scene, which is near the border with Glencoe, Winnetka and Northbrook.
