Grayslake Middle School Olympiad Team Hosts Family Science Nights
The Olympiad team will assist local scientists in presentations to kindergarten to fourth-grade families at four local schools.

The Grayslake Middle School Science Olympiad team, along with community volunteers, and Foundation46 present “Family Science Night” at Community Consolidated School District 46’s elementary schools.
Five local area scientists present to the K-4 families at Avon Center School, Meadowview School, Prairieview School and Woodview School, along with the help of the Grayslake Middle School Science Olympiad team students.

Topics covered vary by school, but have included areas such as the science of eggs and water, seeds, bugs, magnets, electricity, robotics, chemistry, physics, and even Fibonacci numbers. Grayslake Middle School students and a local boy scout troop also perform quick, hands-on experiments with younger students during the registration process.
Family Science Night is the essence of community involvement and CCSD 46 and Foundation46 are excited to bring neighborhood scientists and students together for an evening of engaging learning.

The first Family Science Night is scheduled for Avon Central School in Round Lake Beach, on October 30, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Registration and schedules will be distributed from 6:00-6:25 PM. Additional Science Nights are scheduled for Prairieview School in Hainesville, and Meadowview and Woodview Schools in Grayslake. Family Science Night is organized by seventh grade science teacher Nicole McRee from Grayslake Middle School in Grayslake.
Community Consolidated School District 46 is located in North Eastern Illinois in central Lake County, approximately forty (40) miles north of Chicago and fourteen (14) miles west of Lake Michigan. CCSD 46 serves parts of the villages of Grayslake, Third Lake, Hainesville, Round Lake, Round Lake Park, Round Lake Beach, and Lake Villa.
The district is comprised of seven schools. Four kindergarten through fourth grade neighborhood schools – Avon Center, Meadowview, Prairieview or Woodview, one kindergarten through eighth grade neighborhood school – Park Campus, one fifth and sixth grade intermediate school – Frederick, and one seventh and eighth grade middle school – Grayslake Middle School.
