Grayslake North Teacher is Finalist for Illinois Teacher of the Year Award

Congratulations to Grayslake North High School teacher Emily Weiss, who has been nominated as a finalist for the Teacher of the Year award.

Grayslake North High School teacher Emily Weiss has been selected as one of twelve finalists for the Illinois State Board of Education’s Teacher of the Year award.

Weiss teaches social studies, U.S. history, American studies and public service courses for grades 11 and 12 at Grayslake North High School.

A selection committee composed of administrators, teachers and representatives from educational service personnel, student support personnel and past Illinois Teacher of the Year winners reviewed 231 nominations before determining this year’s finalists, according to a Tuesday press release from the ISBE.

The 2015 Illinois Teacher of the Year will be announced during the Those Who Excel banquet Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Normal.
