Grayslake Students Push for Turtle Crossing Signs
Two students at Prairie Crossing Charter School have been working with local government officials to make the signs a reality.

LAKE COUNTY, IL - Two eighth grade students at Prairie Crossing Charter School in Grayslake have been hard at work convincing local government officials to put up turtle crossing signs on area roadways as a way to help protect the slow-moving creatures during mating season.
Ben Grasmick and Grayson Becker spearheaded the effort as part of a project that is required for them to graduate from Prairie Crossing, the Daily Herald reports. And they have since talked officials in the village of Gurnee and Fremont Township into installing the turtle crossing signs on roadways near turtle habitats.
The signs have so far been put up near the Bittersweet Golf Club on Dada Drive near Hadley Circle and on Owens Road between Gilmer Road and Schwermann Road, according to the Daily Herald.
