Green Oaks Man Accused Of Shooting At Group Of 3 After Disagreement

GREEN OAKS, IL β€” A 42-year-old Green Oaks man has been taken into custody for shooting that happened in the 31000 block of Prairie Ridge Road last month.

Andrew W. Szech, of the 31000 block of Prairie Ridge Road, is accused of shooting at a group of three people following a disagreement. Deputies were called to the home on June 29 where they found a home that had been damaged by gunfire.

They interviewed Szech at the time, who claimed he was robbed during the incident.

Authorities did not find any evidence of a robbery and Szech did not mention firing a gun, according to a news release from the Lake County sheriff's office.

Authorities also interviewed several area residents, who told authorities they suspected Szech was involved in suspicious activity because they saw several cars coming to his house and people interacting with him for a short period before leaving the area, according to a news release.

Deputies also collected video surveillance from the neighborhood and pulled Szech over on July 21 for driving on a revoked license.

He was taken into custody and the Lake County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the case and filled the following charges against Szech: reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated driving with a revoked driver's license.

Sheriff’s detectives submitted a clear and present danger form to the Illinois State Police regarding Szech’s firearm recklessness. He remains behind bars on a $300,000 bail and is next expected in court on July 25.
