Illinois State Senator Melinda Bush Resigns
Bush, D-Grayslake, resigned from her seat effective Saturday.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — State Sen. Melinda Bush, D-Grayslake, resigned from her seat effective Saturday and now democratic leaders in Lake County must pick a replacement to serve her final nine days.
And since the borders have changed in the district, the person selected cannot be state Sen.-elect Mary Edly-Allen, according to the Daily Herald. The person picked for the spot will need to travel to Springfield to vote since state lawmakers will be in session for a couple days in January before the new term begins on Jan. 11.
Those interested in applying for the position must be over the age of 18 years old and need to have lived in the current borders of the 31st Senate District for at least two years, according to the articles.
