Illinois Student Fatally Struck By Truck In Wisconsin: Police
The 19-year-old freshman was killed Thursday near his college campus.

KENOSHA COUNTY, WI — A 19-year-old Lindenhurst man was fatally struck by a truck Thursday afternoon near Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Griffin Schumow, a freshman at the school, was struck just after 3:20 p.m. along a four-lane highway near the university's tennis courts and baseball diamond, police said.
In a post on the school's Facebook page, Carthage President John Swallow said Schumow was an environmental science major.
"The College is working with Griffin's family to determine the best way to honor Griffin's life," Swallow said in a statement. "Our community will be affected by this tragedy in many ways. Please continue to keep Griffin's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers."

According to police, the driver who struck Schumow stayed at the scene of the accident and cooperated with officers on scene.
Carthage was offering counseling and support services Friday for students, faculty and staff as the campus mourns the loss of Schumow.

Services for Schumow have yet to be scheduled, according to an obituary.
