Lake County Liquor Store Robbed at Gunpoint

A masked man got away with $200 in cash from Gages Lake Food and Liquor.

A liquor store in Gages Lake was robbed at gunpoint Friday morning, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect following the armed robbery at about 11:26 a.m. Friday at Gages Lake Food and Liquor, which is 18000 block of Old Gages Lake Road in Gages Lake, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

A preliminary investigation revealed the wife of the store’s owner was in the back room on the phone when a masked suspect entered the store, went to the back room and forced the woman at gunpoint to empty the cash register, according to the press release.

The suspect, described as a black male who is about 5’ 7” tall, also took the woman’s purse, which contained cash. He fled the store on foot with around $200 in total cash. A gun described as a small silver snub-nosed revolved was used in the robbery, police said.

Police responded with a K9 but were unable to locate the suspect. The robbery remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division.
