Lakemoor Woodman's Inches Closer To Opening

LAKEMOOR, IL --Many Lake County residents will be happy to hear that Woodman's Food Market in Lakemoor is planning to open in the coming months. Store officials say the new Woodman's, which is being built at the southwest corner of routes 12 and 120, is on track to open over Labor Day weekend, according to the Daily Herald. The foundation for the massive grocery store, which spans 244,171 square feet or more than five acres, was just poured in October.

The exterior work is now underway on the building as other work continues on the 22-acre site, including the extension of a sewer line and the raising of the work site by six to eight feet in some areas, according to the article. A gas station will also be located on the property.

Mike Mitchell, construction site superintendent, told the Daily Herald that the village has been approached by other businesses interested in building nearby. As of now, nothing is set in stone regarding potential development projects but the new grocery store is expected to bring more businesses to the Lakemoor and Volo area.
