LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Lake County jury argued late into Thursday night as they discussed the fate of a Round Lake Beach man accused of fatally shooting a teen boy and shooting and injuring his twin brother on Jan. 3, 2021.

Defense attorneys claim Lynell Glover acted in self defense when he found the brothers in his car, which they stole days earlier, on the side of the road on Route 12 near Volo, according to the Daily Herald. Assistant State's Attorney Lauren Callinan said Glover could have let the boys run away but instead shot them.

Anthony Awad, of Carol Stream, died from the gunshot wounds and his identical twin, Jonathan Awad, was shot three times but survived.

"His only goal that night was to watch them get apprehended," Callinan said during closing arguments."That is not self-defense."

If found guilty, Glover could face up to 60 years in prison.
