Man, 92, Hit And Killed By Metra Train In Antioch: Coroner

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 92-year-old man was hit and killed by a Metra train in Antioch Friday evening, authorities said.

The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the man fatally struck by the train as Wayne Blanchette. Preliminary results from an autopsy show Blanchette died as a result of blunt force injuries, according to a news release from the coroner's office.

Authorities say the incident occurred on the Metra tracks near the pedestrian crossing on Route 173 east of Route 83 at about 7:10 p.m. Friday.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
