Man Points Gun At Deputies Responding To Loud TV Report: Police

The 58-year-old Lake Villa Township man now faces a disorderly conduct charge following the incident early Tuesday.

LAKE COUNTY, IL -- A 58-year-old Lake County man is free on bail after he got the cops called to his home for his TV being too loud early Tuesday and, when they arrived, ended up pointing a shotgun at them, authorities said. Frank D. Frano, of the 36900 block of North Terry Drive East, is also accused of "charging" the weapon, making it look as if he was loading a round into the chamber, while he pointed the gun at a door where Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies were standing after responding to the loud noise complaint at about 3:30 a.m. in Oct. 2, according to the news release.

Frano now faces a disorderly conduct charge.

The incident began with a call from Frano's neighbor regarding the loud T.V., according to police. The neighbor said he tried to resolve the issue himself, but when he spoke with Frano, Frano began cursing at him.

When authorities arrived, they knocked on Frano’s door and announced themselves as Lake County Sheriff’s deputies, according to the news release. They initially saw Frano on a chair in the living room. After several minutes of Frano not responding to their knocking, Frano left the living room and returned a short time later armed with a shotgun, police said.

He then pointed the shotgun toward the door and and charged the weapon, according to the news release.

Deputies retreated and requested Frano put the shotgun down. A police negotiator called Frano and persuaded him to come out of the home unarmed.

Frano was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail. He has since been released from custody after receiving a $1,500 recognizance bond.

He is next due in court on October 22.
