Missing Gurnee Man Who Fled Crash Scene Has Been Found, Hospitalized

The 46-year-old man may have been ejected from his vehicle Friday night. He then fled and was found by police about 12 hours later.

Police spent nearly 12 hours trying to find a Gurnee man reported missing and in need of medical attention after he was involved in a traffic crash Friday night where it is believed he was ejected from his vehicle.

The man fled the scene of the crash and went to a friend’s home in unincorporated Antioch where he had obvious signs of injuries, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release. The man asked his friends not to call 9-11 but due to his injured condition, they made the call for help.

Police responded to the 41600 block of North Lotus Avenue but the injured man had already fled the area on foot.

An ambulance was requested for the man and he was transported to a local hospital with injuries from the crash as well as other medical conditions.

“It’s very possible without being located, this man could have faced a very grave outcome,” Undersheriff Ray Rose said.

Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the initial traffic crash.
