Murder Suspect Charged After Fight At Lake County Jail

A 19-year-old accused of murder in the July death of a Lake Villa man faces a misdemeanor charge after the alleged jail fight.

WAUKEGAN, IL - One of two suspects in the summer beating death of a Lake Villa man now faces an additional charge on accusations he got into a fight at the Lake County jail. 19-year-old Jordan L. Toney faces a battery charge from the jail fight authorities say occurred on Nov. 15, the Daily Herald reports.

Toney and Buddy W. Johnson, 20, are both incarcerated on $5 million bail in connection with the July 21 death of Jerry Griffith, who authorities said was beat up and killed in an alley near his home on Grand Avenue in Lake Villa.

Charges against Toney and Johnson include accusations they robbed and assaulted Griffith before knocking him to the ground and dropping a heavy sandbag on his head.
