No Gun Charges In IL For Rittenhouse: Prosecutors
The AR-15-style rifle used in the Kenosha shootings was bought, stored and used in Wisconsin, prosecutors said.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 17-year-old Antioch boy accused in the fatal shootings that left two dead during protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in August will not be charged with any gun violations in Illinois, prosecutors in Lake County said Tuesday. Following an "extensive investigation" by the Antioch Police Department, authorities determined the Smith and Wesson AR-15-style .223 rifle used in the Aug. 25 shootings was never brought by Kyle Rittenhouse into Illinois.
Instead, prosecutors said, the gun had been bought, stored and used in Wisconsin, according to a statement from the Lake County State's Attorney's Office.
Because of this, Rittenhouse will not be charged in Illinois with any gun offense. No additional details surrounding the Illinois investigation into Rittenhouse's gun were being released Tuesday "as to not disrupt any investigation that may be taking place in Wisconsin," according to prosecutors.
