Coroner IDs Pedestrian Killed In Lindenhurst Collision

LINDENHURST, IL – A pedestrian killed while crossing Route 45 in Lindenhurst Sunday evening has been identified as Victoria Sowka, 61, of Lindenhurst, authorities said. The collision occurred when Sowka was attempting to cross Route 45 at Falling Waters Drive at about 5:25 p.m. and was hit by a 2011 Nissan Rogue that was headed south on Route 45, according to a news release from the Lindenhurst Police Department. The Nissan was driven by a 38-year-old Waukegan man.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Preliminary autopsy results show she died from multiple traumatic injuries from blunt force trauma. Toxicology is pending.

The collision remains under investigation.
