Pedestrian Struck And Killed In Round Lake Beach Identified
A 67-year-old man walking his bicycle across Route 83 Monday died from his injuries after he was hit by a car.

ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL — The man who was fatally struck by a car Monday night while walking a bicycle and carrying groceries in Round Lake Beach was identified Wednesday. Francisco Suarez Lopez, 67, of Round Lake Beach, was hit by a southbound car shortly before 7 p.m. as he walked eastbound on Route 83 near Monaville Road, according to Round Lake Beach police and the Lake County coroner.
Suarez Lopez was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m., according to the coronor's office. Preliminary autopsy results indicate he died of multiple injuries caused by blunt force trauma.
Round Lake Beach Police Department and the coroner's office are continuing to investigate his death, no citations had been issued as of Tuesday pending further investigation by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.

Police said Suarez Lopez was crossing Route 83 when he was hit by a 2008 Ford Taurus driven by a 26-year-old Lindenhurst woman. Debris thrown off by the collision was thrown into the other lane, where it was hit by a 27-year-old Wheeling woman. Round Lake Beach police told the Lake County News-Sun it appeared Suarez Lopez was only struck once.
