Revenge-Seeking Woman Wanted for Swatting Call: Police

Authorities have issued a $25,000 arrest warrant for the Chicago woman who has been charged in connection with the Dec. 11 call.

LAKE COUNTY, IL -- Authorities are looking for a 41-year-old woman accused of making a "swatting" call last month. A $25,000 arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for Keesha S. Ingram, of the 7600 block of South Prairie Avenue in Chicago, who is charged with felony disorderly conduct in connection with the Dec. 11 call to 911. In the 5:15 a.m. phone call, Ingram told authorities a man was threatening to shoot his wife at a home in the 17600 block of Dawn Court in Warren Township, police said.

An investigation revealed Ingram was an acquaintance of the man who she claimed was trying to shoot his wife, and she was seeking revenge when she placed the swatting call, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Ingram allegedly did this because she thought the man owed her money and was not paying up.

Her 911 call prompted a "major traffic safety response," Lake Co. Sheriff's Office Sgt. Christopher Covelli said in the news release. Deputies responding to the Warren Township home established a perimeter around the house. In total, nine deputies were called to the scene and were at the home for over an hour, Covelli said.

They made contact with the man and woman in the home and learned there was no act of any violence happening and no threats of a shooting, police said.

Additional detective work and resources were also expended to investigate the swatting call and determine who placed the call, Covelli said Thursday.

Police said the disorderly conduct charge has been filed against Ingram since she lied to authorities in the 911 call for the purpose of creating a false alarm and since she also knew there was no reasonable grounds for making the call.
