The Lake Zurich Man now faces two felony counts of impersonating a peace officer after his arrest on June 9.

A 41-year-old Lake Zurich man was arrested last week for pretending to be a police officer while trying to break into cars parked in lot along Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville, according to a police report.

Arslanbek Sagynaliev of 23790 N. Overhill Drive in Lake Zurich was taken into custody on July 9 after police received a call in regards to an individual who was trying to enter vehicles in a parking lot in the 600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. Sagynaliev claimed he was a detective during the attempted break-ins, according to the Libertyville Police Department report.

He provided a business card with two names and attempted to identify himself under both names to police who arrived on scene at about 8:20 p.m. Police verified he was not affiliated with a law enforcement agency and Sagynaliev was arrested, police said.
