Man Running Away from Disabled Vehicle on Butterfield Later Charged With DUI: Police

LIBERTYVILLE, IL - A man spotted running away from a disabled vehicle on Butterfield Road in Libertyville this past month was arrested for DUI after police caught up with him and after he failed field sobriety tests, according to a Libertyville Police Department report.

Police were called to the area of Butterfield and Winchester roads at 9:45 p.m. on July 23 for the report of the disabled vehicle and when they located the vehicle, the saw a man running north away from the vehicle on Butterfield Road.

Police said they could smell alcohol on the breath of Jesus B. Tovar-Melquiades, 31, of Beach Park, who later failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested, processed and released after posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. He is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. His court date was scheduled for August 12 at the Lake County Courthouse.
