Armed Robber Steals Cash, Cartons of Newport 100’s From Libertyville Gas Station

The armed robbery occurred early Sunday morning at the Tru-North Shell gast station in Libertyville.

LIBERTYVILLE,, IL - A robber armed with a semi-automatic handgun entered a gas station in Libertyville over the weekend and got away with cash and several cartons of Newport 100’s, according to Libertyville police.

Libertyville police are looking for the suspect in the armed robbery, which occurred at about 1:11 a.m. on Aug. 21 at the Tru-North Shell gas station, 2070 Shell Drive in Libertyville. The gas station is located at the intersection of Highway 45 and Peterson Road.

The suspect fled the store on foot in an unknown direction. The store clerk on duty at the time of the armed robbery was not injured.

The armed robber is described as a black male between 30 and 40 years old. The suspect has an average build and dark moles or freckles underneath his eyes.

Police are continuing to investigate the armed robbery.
