The Village of Grayslake (population 21,248) is located in central Lake County, approximately forty (40) miles north of Chicago. The Village is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time position of Laborer within the Village’s Public Works Department.

This is a full-time crew worker position, performing non-skilled and limited semi-skilled labor.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be able to perform routine labor tasks in order to maintain Village streets, buildings, grounds, landscaping, rights-of-way and water and sewer utilities.  The position will be expected to assist in the village’s snow plow operations.  The work schedule can vary depending on weather and other factors. 

The starting salary for this position is $43,493 with an excellent benefit package.  A minimum level of experience in manual labor work and in the operation of light and medium equipment is required; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.  The successful applicant will be required to submit to a pre-employment physical examination and drug test.  Applicants should possess a CDL driver’s license or be eligible to obtain one within three months of hire.
