Washington Street at Railroad Crossing West of Lake Street Closed Sept. 16 to 19

The portion of Washington Street will be closed from 9:00 p.m. Sept. 16 to 5:00 a.m. Sept. 19.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — The Lake County Division of Transportation is closing the Washington Street at the railroad crossing west of Lake Street Sept. 16 to Sept. 19.

On Sept. 16, Washington Street will be closed to all traffic from east of the Metra Station entrance to Lake Street beginning at 9:00 p.m. It'll reopen to traffic at 5:00 a.m. on Sept. 19.

The Lake County Division of Transportation recommends residents should instead take Washington Street, to Illinois Route 83, to Rollins Road, to Hainesville Road. Local traffic can access the Metra Station west of the railroad tracks.

This closure is due to the Washington Street Underpass construction project. The erection of the bridge structural steel is almost complete and bridge waterproofing operations should start next week. Then, the bridge track work will follow. Construction of the east retaining wall is in progress and the precast pump station house continues to be detailed.
